Roman bone sword hilt - Mainz / Pompeii type (1st - early 2nd century, approx. 10 cm)

This Roman sword hilt, made of polished bone, is based on archaeological finds from the 1st to early 2nd century and is typical for Mainz and Pompeii type swords.

It is characterized by distinct finger grooves and a faceted cross-section, which enable secure and ergonomic handling. Such hilts are well documented, especially from the border regions of the Roman Empire, and belong to the classic forms of the Roman Imperial period.

Bone was a preferred material for grip components as it is sturdy, durable, and comfortable to hold.

The hilt is ideal for reenactment, the reconstruction of Roman swords, or as an authentic collector's item.

Upon request, the grip length can be individually adjusted.

Each item is handmade and unique. Slight deviations are due to material and craftsmanship.
