Ornate hairpin based on a 2nd century Roman find from Xanten, made of polished bone.

The pin is designed with fine profile grooves and a decorative head featuring a geometric diamond pattern. This type of ornamentation was common in Roman daily life, combining functional form with understated elegance.

The oval cross-section ensures comfortable handling and allows the different surfaces to reflect light vividly. The fine grooves were - as with historical examples - highlighted with black pigmented wax, which particularly accentuates the decoration.

Such hairpins were an integral part of Roman hairstyles and are frequently attested in provincial Roman archaeological contexts. This piece is based on finds from the Rhine provinces and exemplifies the refined everyday luxury of the Roman population.

An authentic accessory that combines historical functionality and decorative design.
