This Roman distaff made of polished bone is based on historical models from the 1st-3rd centuries AD and combines practical craftsmanship with representative design.

This replica shows a depiction of the so-called ''Venus pudica''. The goddess of beauty wears a diadem and a hip-length cloak and covers her breast and private parts with her hands - a form of depiction widely used in antiquity. Next to her is a dolphin, one of Venus's classical symbolic animals.

The bone has been carefully processed and polished to a high shine. This creates a smooth surface with natural coloring and individual structure.
