Roman bracelet with freshwater pearls and garnet, 1st-4th century, silver-plated wire, 19 cm

This Roman freshwater pearl and garnet bracelet is based on various historical finds from the Roman legionary camp in Bonn, as well as from London and Pompeii. The basic form of such wire bracelets is archaeologically attested from the 1st to the 4th century AD.

Especially in the 1st century, combinations of pearls and semi-precious stones were popular, while from the 2nd century onwards, jewelry with individual types of stones became more common. Finely drawn wire was made in the Roman imperial period - depending on the wearer's wealth - from bronze, silver, or gold.

This replica takes up the elegant form of Roman jewelry and combines freshwater pearls with garnet to create a delicate historical bracelet. The wire was carefully processed and shaped by hand.

Since each piece is individually crafted and natural materials are used, slight differences in shape, color, and structure are possible.
